Instacation in Langkawi
Your trip to Malaysia would be incomplete without visiting the Malaysian paradise – The Langkawi Islands! Northwestern Malaysia has an archipelago of over a 100 islands, of which Langkawi is the main island. It is bordered by stunning white sandy beaches and is a home to majestic waterfalls and the world’s steepest cable car ride! Langkawi has a laid back atmosphere, huge limestone karsts and spectacular white sand beaches, which draws a lot of crowd to the islands as Langkawi is quite unlike most other destinations in Malaysia!
The island per se is quite small and thus you should be able to comfortably explore it all in 4 days. The best time to visit Langkawi would be during the dry season which is also the peak touristy season that lasts from November to March when the climate is sunny and humid! The mid-season lasts from April to July when you can expect short spells of rain during the day. Hence during these months, the island is not as crowded and also the flights and hotels provide some fantastic deals!
When it comes to hotels, the choices are endless, ranging from budget friendly hotels to high end luxury resorts! The best way to explore the island is by renting a motorbike or a car from one of the many rental shops or to take a public taxi. Now that all the wheres, whens and hows are covered, let’s get to the most interesting part of the blog which is about all of the things that you ABSOLUTELY MUST DO during your time vacationing in the gorgeous Langkawi Islands-
Start your morning early today and head straight up to Oriental Village from where you can hop on to the world’s steepest cable car ride to reach the Langkawi Sky Bridge. If you want to raise the thrill element up a notch, opt for a glass bottomed gondola! The Sky Bridge is suspended from two mountain peaks and is constructed so beautifully that you get an entirely different scenery from each viewpoint! A panoramic view of the verdant mountains, sparkling blue ocean, seven wells waterfalls and the island city is what you get to see from a height of 660 meters! In order to beat the crowd, try to reach the bridge by 9 am which is when it opens its doors to the public.
After enjoying the stunning view from atop the Sky Bridge, head over to the Seven Wells Waterfall that gets its name from the seven pools the fall creates at different levels. A hike up the stairs will get you to the top where there are several pools to swim in. After a relaxing dip in the waterfall, get ready for some more adventure by signing up for the longest Zipline of Langkawi which starts at the foot of the Seven Wells Waterfall. It gives a spectacular view of both the waterfall and jungle!
The day is not over yet folks! The best way to enjoy a sunset when in Langkawi is by booking a Sunset Cruise. Set sail in the azure blue waters around the island and enjoy a glorious sunset with your loved ones!
Gear up for another interesting day on the island! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join a Nature Cycling Tour where you would be leisurely cycling in the countryside along endless rice fields, mingling with locals and gorging on some delicious Malaysian meals! After your cycling tour, head over for a late afternoon Sunset Mangrove Tour. This tour will take you through waterways that criss- cross through thick mangrove forests which are a home to a wide variety of animals, birds and plants!
Pass through mammoth limestone karsts; visit some dark caves and even a secluded beach if time permits. Enjoy a spectacular sunset and wrap the tour with dinner in a local floating restaurant. If you want to feel more involved, you could even opt for a kayak mangrove tour! Do not forget to carry an insect repellant!
Hire a vehicle of your choice and set out to explore the island on your own today! Start driving northeast and visit the Tanjung Rhu Beach which is a remote beach, sandwiched between the lush jungle and the Andaman Sea. This area is much quieter than other parts of Langkawi as it hosts only a few exclusive resorts. Continuing further, visit Skull Sand Beach, which is a small white sand beach that is perfect to swim in. Continue north and visit the Temarun Waterfalls which has 3 tiers and is the tallest waterfall in Langkawi! From here, head back into Kuah Town which is the main town of the Island. Definitely visit the Eagle Square! Along the way you will pass Ayer Hangat Hot Springs, Durian Perangin Waterfall and Galeria Perdana, all of which can be visited if time permits! End your day with the view of a spectacular sunset at Pantai Cenang Beach and with an authentic Malaysian street food experience at one of the night markets!
Reserve your last day on the island for Island Hopping! Book a Langkawi Day Cruise that offers a boat trip of the islands through emerald colored waters and limestone karsts!
The cruise usually lasts for about 6 hours and depending on the package you chose, the cruise would include meals, jacuzzi, a dance floor, free flow beverages of choice and even a barbecue on a private beach! The cruise ends with one last view of a breathtaking sunset in the glimmering ocean around the island! If not for a day cruise, you could opt for hop on and off boat tour which gives you some more time on the islands! End the night with some delectable street food from the night market!
